Happy New Year
Wednesday, December 31st, 2008Weekend in Fort Wayne
Monday, December 29th, 2008After a great Christmas at home, we drove to Fort Wayne on Friday, December 26. Kelly was still at work when we got there so we went and checked into the hotel. Went over to Kelly’s when she got off work. Got up Saturday morning and went out to visit Beth’s mother. It was a good visit. She was alert and interested in conversation. Left and stopped at the farm to visit with Beth’s brother and his wife. Their three kids are really getting big. Next we stopped to see my brtoher, Ron, and his wife, Thelma. She had a knee replacement on December 10 and is doing good. Next, it was o,ut to Fish of Stroh to pick up lunch and take it back to Kelly’s. We celebrated Christmas with Kelly and the kids Satruday evening. Sunday morning we slept in and then went to Mr. Coney for lunch. After lunch we went to visit with my former boss, Rob Drummond and his wife, Nancy. Had a very good visit. Sunday evening we ate dinner at the Golden Corral with Tom, Linda, Amanda, Greg, Ashley, April, Kayden, Kelly, Jamie and Kelsey. Drove back home on Monday. It was a busy few days but very enjoyable.
Paul’s trip to the ER
Wednesday, December 17th, 2008Just a quick note to let you all know that Paul spent Wednesday morning in the ER with some pain in his back. Turns out he has a 4.5 mm kidney stone. They gave him some pain killers and sent him home telling him to drink lots of water and to hopefully pass it in the next week.
Forty years
Tuesday, December 16th, 2008Today I got my watch for 40 years with the company. Of course, 35 of those were spent with Central Soya but since CSY became a part of Bunge my time counts.
Thanksgiving 2008
Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008After a short week, Beth and I went down to the campground for the Thanksgiving Day weekend. They have condos and part of our membership allows us one free week per year. Since we bought it late in the year we didn’t get to take it through the summer so we thought rather than loose it we would take it at Thanksgiving. Some camping friends of ours did the same thing so we went over Wednesday evening and talked to them. On Thursday, Beth and I had our Thanksgiving dinner. It was the traditional feast – Turkey, dressing, potatoes, noodles, cranberry sauce, etc. And of course, pumpkin pie with Cool Whip. Thursday afternoon we went to our friends condo and ate Thanksgiving dinner with them. Same kind of stuff. What a day. Friday we just lounged around. Beth is working on sewing some Christmas gifts for co-workers so she worked on that until her sewing machine crapped out. Don’t know what that will take to repair. Saturday we went to a flea market and craft show at the campground and then later in the afternoon we went to the campground theater and watched “National Treasure 2.” Later that evening we had Thanksgiving dinner at the campground. Same kind of stuff again. The people that run the restaurant at the campground cater the events and they can really cook. The pumpkin pie was some of the best I have ever had. When we got up Sunday morning there was about 1 inch of snow on the ground. The roads were clear though so it didn’t cause any problems. The trees were just beautiful with the snow on them – especially on the drive home. All in all, a pretty good weekend.
