Talking about food

Saturday, March 27th, 2010

We went to Olive Garden with Scott and Jess last night to celebrate Scott’s 23rd BD. Food was good. I had pollo fettucini. The salad was OK. The bread sticks were GREAT. And best of all, the company was good. Until a group of about 10 or 12 people came in and didn’t realize that they were the only ones that wanted to talk. It’s OK to have a good time but you don’t have to yell from one end of the table to the other and you don’t all have to talk at the same time in very loud voices and you don’t have to laugh like you are at a comedy show. We honestly could not hear each other talk. Fortunately, it was after we were done so we paid and left.

Today I am going down to the campground with Scott and Jess to get him an associate membership card. Then I will turn around and come straight back. I might stop and talk to our camper for a little while just to let it know that we will be back down soon. I’m sure it misses us as bad as we miss it. Only two more weeks and we’ll be on our way – assuming the doctor clears Beth to go.

Another week gone – here comes the weekend

Friday, March 26th, 2010

Friday night and just relaxing a little bit. I think we are going to go to dinner tonight with Scott and his fiance to celebrate Scott’s 23rd birthday. Hard to believe that our baby is 23.

I came across this link for a blog of some people that went to Alaska in a Heartland Bighorn 3670 5th wheel. This is the same model we have. This is quite a blog. You probably don’t want to look at the whole thing but might be interesting to see the pains that some people take with their blog. Of course, they were gone quite a while and seems like they took their time. http://alaska.mpandgp.com/ The pictures of the RV in the snow is interesting.

Mowed the front lawn tonight

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

Got out the mower, filled it with gas and in two pulls it was running. Mowed the front lawn. It really did need it. Had leaves from the neighbors tree pluss some of the grass was getting rather long. Temperature in the upper 60s so it was great weather. The back really does not need it yet but if it is this nice tomorrow night I may do some yard work in the back. We have a hedge that needs trimming. I think Spring is almost here.

Busy weekend

Sunday, March 21st, 2010

Went over Saturday to Costco and got a new television for the family room. The old one was starting to get very fuzzy. Also got a DVD / Bluray player. Got that set up. Started doing some of the laundry. Beth can’t go down the basement yet. Only one flight of stairs allowed. Sunday, I went and got the truck and took the hitch out so I could help April and Brian get a sofa. The people she bought it from had it upstairs so we had to carry it down. Man, it was a job and a half. Got home and did some more laundry and then went grocery shopping. Probably took me longer than it would have Beth ’cause I don’t know where the stuff is in the store. Finally did a little more laundry and now just waiting for bed. I’m tired.

Update on Beth

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

Took Beth to the doctor this morning for her post operative checkup. Everything looks good. The biopsy was as expected. It was not cancer but could have turned into cancer so it was best to get this taken care of. She still cannot drive. About 1 more week. She will go back in two weeks and the doctor will determine from there what else she can do. Like more than one time up and down the steps. But the full release will not come for six weeks from surgery.

Back to work

Monday, March 15th, 2010

I took a day of vacation on Friday to make sure that Beth was going to be okay but had to go back today. It bothered me some that she was home alone but I only called her twice to make sure she was okay. The only thing that really worried me was when she when downstairs. However, she did not take any of the pain killer today so she was a bit steadier on her feet. Guess it will get better everyday.

Scrubbing carpet

Sunday, March 14th, 2010

Yesterday, I started scrubbing the carpet in the room that Kayden (and Brian before that) was in. Looks like maybe it will clean up although I’m not sure yet. I think we may have professionals come in once April has all of her stuff moved out. I don’t want to get them out here for just one room. But also don’t want to wait to get the carpet clean. So I’m doing it. Guess that is why we bought the scrubber. I sometimes wish I would have bought Pop’s scrubber.

Bringing the blog up to date

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

I am able to access the old database that stores the blog posts but I cannot import them into the new blog. I guess the database structure may have changed. So, I am going to bring them in manually – one at a time. It will be a lot of work and it will take quite a while but I really want to get all the old posts back out there. Just call me a geek. Anyway, you will see that the posts start in 2007 and then jump to 2010. That will change as time goes on. I don’t know yet if I can do the same thing with comments but I’m going to try.

Beth is home

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

She called me at work today and said that she would be released about 4:30 pm. It was closer to 5:00 but that’s OK. Got her home and upstairs and that wore her out. She is only allowed to go up and down the steps one time per day. No lifting over 20 lbs. and all that other restricted stuff. After I got her settled I went down to Walgreens and dropped off her prescription and waited for it. Didn’t take long. Stopped at Sonic for supper. I’m taking tomorrow off so I can be home Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Hopefully by Monday I won’t worry quite so much about leaving her at home. Someone from church called and they are going to bring over a few meals. I think the first one will be Sunday afternoon so hopefully it will be something that can be reheated so Beth has something to eat while I am at work.

Blog back up and update on DW

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

Well, I got the blog back up and running. Now I just have to try to get the old posts and comments reloaded. I have them backed up but so far I have not had a great deal of luck getting them reloaded. I’m not sure what caused the problem in the first place. If this happens again I will use a posted blog like the rest of you are doing.

Now, update on Beth. She is doing quite a bit better today. She is up and going to the bathroom on her own. Still on an IV but the pain medication is oral now. She is eating OK. She ate all of her soup and turkey sandwich and only had a bit of her fruit left tonight. They did move her to a different room. She was in the ob ward right across from the nursery. The hospital was really full and that was the only spot they had. But, they had 7 new babies today with number 8 on the way as they were moving her and they needed her room so they moved her down to the surgical ward. It is brand new and really nice – if being in the hospital can be nice. She may get to come home tomorrow. However, the doctor will not let her come home until she, uh, well, how do I say this politely, passes gas. I’m not sure why but I think it has something to do with getting all the anethesia out of her system. Well, time to go to bed. I’ll keep you posted.
